OBJECTS: Short Porch

Brooklyn indie rock band Short Porch recently released their debut album Hot & Ready. The record captures the frantic energy of the city, frontman Sean McNulty’s vocals on the edge. The album is the band looking to “sound as close as possible to our live show,” they share. Moreso, you can taste the essence of NYC–the grit and buzz, even its pizza! With songs about the subway, navigating a crowded bar and more, it’s a realistic portrait of the city Short Porch calls home.
“We really feel our city very much in this album,” McNulty says. In this episode of OBJECTS, he shows off an item that influenced the band while making the record. Watch the episode now.

Spirit Hotel's debut Rêve is an examination of the mind. It’s vivid, disorienting, and hard to shake. Fronted by Leila May Hauck, the record moves between haunting and harmonious, mirroring Hauck's own fascination with dreams, memory, and the unreliable narrator within all of us. We sat down with Leila to talk about turning visions into songs, the eerie pull of the Farfisa organ, daily creative rituals, and what it means to make music from a place you're not sure you can fully trust.
