New Releases - August 2025
Tomorrow is Bandcamp Friday.
We picked our favorite releases that came out in July. Go pick up some records!
MOLD! - III
Pick up the latest album by Miami post-punk quartet MOLD! On the album, the band shares: “6 songs in spanish, 6 songs in english! Fast and noisy! And trippy! With topics of Alienation, nostalgia, and other feelings related to the immigrant experience.” Buy the limited color vinyl available in sea glass w/ red splatter, sea foam turquoise, and opaque pink, out via Community Records.
Welcome Strawberry - desperate flower
We love Welcome Strawberry and couldn’t be more excited about their latest album desperate flower. The 10-song release encapsulates everything that the band is: distortion heavy, leaning into experimental shoegaze, expressive soundscapes and nostalgia all at the same time. The album is a collaborative release from two of our favorite indies Cherub Dream Records & a La Carte Records.
Empty Nesters - Deaf Monks
Calling it now - this is one of the best EPs of the year. What started out as an indie/shoegaze project, led by Chinese/Vietnamese-Canadian artist Eric Liao, Empty Nesters shape-shifted into something new. Featuring Matthew Galamaga on drums, the duo turned “feeling stuck, grappling with change, and embarking on a journey of self-discovery,” into a hardcore feast for the ears.
thistle. - it's nice to see you, stranger
This one’s been in constant rotation. We’ll let the British shoegaze band talk about what it was like to put this out: “We’re all super proud of all of the songs on this and it’s taken a lot for us to end up with the final project, with many obstacles on the way, as there are for many bands that have to balance their jobs, family life and mental health. I think the struggle shows in the music. Hopefully in a good way.”
Muscle - Arrest God
There’s something indescribable that comes through the songs on Arrest God, the latest album by Baltimore hardcore band Muscle. It’s a very specific energy that for most of us is hard to tap into. It sits within all of us, but we can’t all access it–if that makes sense? It’s intense and it takes a lot of work to reach. Yet for Muscle’s vocalist Madison, it’s instinctual.
