New Releases - May 2025

Today is Bandcamp Friday.

A ton of great music came out in April. These are some of our favorites.

Blackwater Holylight - If You Only Knew

Pain, vulnerability and moving on from emotional crutches are all themes contained on Blackwater Holylight’s latest EP. “This record is a reflection of what comes when you have the patience to lean into time and space,” the band says. “To lean into community and the trust in yourself, your heart, and the true meaning of what it is to connect to something close, and yet outside of you.”

Fotoform - Grief is a Garden (Forever in Bloom)

It takes time and intentional energy to work through grief. For Seattle post-punk/shoegaze project Fotoform, catharsis came through the songwriting of their new album Grief is a Garden (Forever in Bloom). The vinyl is available for purchase on translucent coral swirl, natural hazy clear and black.

Ribbon Skirt - Bite Down

There’s no doubt that Ribbon Skirt’s Bite Down is already one of the best albums of the year. As the writer Waubeshig Rice explains, “To be Anishinaabe in a contemporary settler state also means, tragically, to overcome trauma and live with grief. But through healing and art - especially music like this - we can redefine who we are and finally control the story about us.” This is Ribbon Skirt’s debut album, courtesy of Mint Records.

Kills Birds - Crave

LA grunge band Kills Birds is back with their latest EP Crave. Working with producer Aron Kobayashi Ritch (Momma), the five song release captures the band’s visceral energy. The band's influences include Nirvana, Deftones, and 90s alternative.

Grandma’s House - Anything For You

Bristol garage/post-punk band Grandma’s House just put out their new EP via Berlin-based indie label Duchess Box. “These songs were written during a dark time, through grief, experiencing loss in all its forms and through an illness that has made our unbreakable bond even stronger,” the band shares.
