Get to know Lovewell
Inspired by bands like Built to Spill and Third Eye Blind, Lovewell’s signature sound combines elements of punk, emo, and shoegaze, as proven on their debut album, Everything You Ever Wanted.
The band formed in 2018, spearheaded by multi-instrumentalists Mark Palladino and Joe Bradshaw. With members from New Hampshire and Massachusetts, Lovewell is a true product of New England’s alternative rock scene. Their nine-track debut album explores themes of love and heartbreak through stellar guitar and drum sections and classic alternative rock vocals.
We spoke with Mark Palladino to discuss the band’s creative process, their love for David Lynch, and what they hope listeners will take away from their music.
What was the songwriting process like for Everything You Ever Wanted?
The majority of these songs were written in late 2024 / early 2025 after a long creative impasse. For this album, it was the first time I did the demoing at home, which felt natural given the writing process for it. Many of these songs I started writing on walks with my dog, working out lyrics and melodies in my head. I’d then go home and figure out guitars, piece things together, and demo them. Joe did a great job filling out, adding, and taking away things when it made sense. We spent the summer of 2025 rehearsing the songs to prepare to record.
Do you draw from film, literature, or visual art when you’re writing?
The record draws much of its inspiration from everyday life and the universally shared feelings of melancholy and longing. Also, David Lynch films and Twin Peaks.
As a band, how do you support each other creatively?
We are big fans of what each other brings to the table. We like to change things up often for live shows and oftentimes you’ll hear different guitar leads, drums fills, etc., then what might’ve been recorded. We are always hyped if someone comes up with something cool.
Who are some of your favorite indie bands from the MA/NH area?
Return Address, Vivid Bloom, FFO: Chillin, Quick to Judge, Ezra Cohen, Charm Person, Hell Beach, Risk, Sowing, Awnthay, Closed Course, Shiver, + so many others. There are countless bands from New England doing cool stuff right now.
Let’s play two truths and a lie.
- Kyle MacLachlan follows us on Instagram
- I met Jack (drummer) on Reddit
- We formed at a Friendly’s over a subpar meal and very wet table.
What do you hope people will take from your music?
That people can connect with the songs in a way that makes them feel a little less alone in a world that seems to do everything in its power to dim our light.

Montreal's Empty Nesters return with "No Sad," a two-minute post-hardcore gut-punch dropping tomorrow. Heavy guitars, shifting tempos, and guttural vocals carry a meditation on uncertainty and the time we can only make sense of in hindsight. Listen to the song on Soundvsystem now.
