Empty Nesters, the project led by Montreal-based Eric Liao has defied genre over the years. Their latest single “No Sad,” which officially drops tomorrow, sees the band swimming in post-hardcore waters.
Between the heavy guitars, shifting tempos and guttural vocals, Liao, alongside Matthew Galamaga on drums and Angel Parra Vela on guitar, Empty Nesters power through the two minutes and change. A cloud of uncertainty hangs over, as Liao opens with “Don't know / Where I'll be from now on.” Often, we look ahead with fear, wary of where to step next as a path only reveals itself as we move forward. “No Sad” is an examination of time that only looks wasted in retrospect and an exercise in patience.

Montreal's Empty Nesters return with "No Sad," a two-minute post-hardcore gut-punch dropping tomorrow. Heavy guitars, shifting tempos, and guttural vocals carry a meditation on uncertainty and the time we can only make sense of in hindsight. Listen to the song on Soundvsystem now.
