Genre is death, Long Live Noise
New York noise duo Genre is death is the type of band you see once and never forget. There’s an incredible power that the duo, Ty V and Tayler Lee, commands on stage. Their angular guitar riffs, dizzying bass lines and propulsive drum beats are spellbinding. Their delivery is unmatched. You can’t turn away.
Their latest album Attractive People was released by In The Red Records, the LA-based influential indie label headed by Larry Hardy. Across the record, the pair takes on the homogenous (“Safe Songs”), the influencers (“Attractive People”) and the voyeurs (“Audience”). Their lyrical imagery, combined with noise, dissonance and an enthusiasm to shift the tempo just as you're getting used to the pace, is fully theirs. They’re not doing this for you.
In April, the duo joined Lydia Lunch’s Murderous Again on tour, hitting several US cities along the way. Mike IX of EYEHATEGOD joined for a couple of dates. Genre is death took some photos for us during the run. Check those out below!
