Premiere: The Photocopies tune into madness on “Constant Reminders”

Last week we released our debut compilation daylight x darknight. It includes a brand new track from The Photocopies, the solo project of Sean Turner. The Michigan-based songwriter-producer is originally from London. As The Photocopies, Turner has released numerous EPs and albums over the years, mostly inspired by mid-80s and early-90s British indiepop.
“Constant Reminders” is their darkest work yet. Leaning into new wave and post-punk inspired soundscapes, Turner sings “I'm feeling this madness really tearing me apart.” The track explores the aftermath of losing someone and the discomfort that comes from seeing their things left behind, like souvenirs.
As Turner shares, the song came together fast. "’Constant Reminders’ happened very quickly when I was experimenting with a chord progression and a darker, more post-punk guitar sound than usual,” Turner says. “The whole thing came together within an hour, just riffing with the guitar and Cure-inspired keyboards from there. It's definitely a different direction than the usual catchy indiepop I make, but maybe I should explore this sound a little more at some point."
