New Releases - June 2025

There is no Bandcamp Friday in June.

We picked our favorite releases that came out in May. Go buy some records!

The Discussion - All the Pretty Flowers

The Discussion, the solo project of Laura Pleasants, has released the debut album All the Pretty Flowers. Known for her work in the experimental metal band Kylesa, Pleasants describes the project as “warm cold dark light.” The album combines new wave, post-punk and goth, creating a dark sonic palette with hints of pinks and reds.

Lou Tides - Autostatic!

Teeny Lieberson, member of Sharon Van Etten & The Attachment Theory, has unveiled her new solo project under the name Lou Tides. Of her debut album, she says, “Transformation is an important and consistent process in my songs. I believe this record captures periods of stasis, but also the birth of new ideas, new selves. I wanted to run away from the ghost of myself, but I had to let her be shown. How else do we grow?” Some songs were written in a Nova Scotia cabin, while Lieberson quarantined during early COVID. It captures the resonating feelings of isolation, political disillusion and getting sober.

Sugar for the Pill - LUV

Athens-based Sugar for the Pill was definitely a highlight of the 2024 New Colossus Festival. Their second album LUV is a testament to their artistry. Producing the album alongside Jordan Lawlor (M83) and Alex Bolpasis, the band carefully crafts shoegaze anthems. Their LP is available in Hot Pink or Ultra Clear.

Farmers Wife - Faint Illusions

If you’re in the mood for grunge, look no further than Farmer’s Wife. On Faint Illusions, the Austin band pulls from bands like Smashing Pumpkins and Stone Temple Pilots, recalling some of the best music the 90s had to offer. Thematically, the band tinkers between the darkness and light, exploring the corners of love and life after death.
