soundvsystem announces new record label and sets the release of its first compilation ‘daylight x darknight’
Today, we are announcing the official launch of our record label soundvsystem records. At the same time, we’d like to share news of our first compilation daylight x darknight with a digital release date set for October 24, 2025. The compilation brings together shoegaze, indie rock, post-punk and experimental pop from artists including Iceblynk, Dear Dorrit, Weird Era and Exit Moon.
The concept of the compilation originated from an attempt to merge different styles–not so much genres–but a light/dark contrasting sound, each set onto its own side. It quickly morphed into something of its own.
I didn’t want to put strict parameters on what the compilation had to be and instead focused on the overall story, I wanted each song to feel like it was a new shade–fitting neatly into those in-between spaces of opposing sounds.
Opening the compilation is the lush guitar-driven song “Wanton” from shoegazers Phantom Wave. Side A also includes Phoenix duo Dear Dorrit, Pittsburg noise pop band Weird Era, Leeds lo-fi garage project Pin-Up Sisters and Boston’s Lesbiana. New York post-punk/dream pop bands doubleshot and Iceblynk kick off Side B alongside Michigan-based The Photocopies, and alternative pop artist Exit Moon. daylight x darknight features new and exclusive songs from navel grazr, SNAKEY DUBLAY, Lesbiana and GLICH3.
