5 Songs from The Faves

We’ve got music from Oxymorons, Liam Creamer, The Unheard Ones, Materializer and Johnny Mafia.

Our curated Apple playlist ‘the faves’ will catch you up on all of our recent picks.

Oxymorons - Bombs Over Gaza

On “Bombs Over Gaza”. New York’s Oxymorons get straight to the point. Sonically, they combine hip-hop, punk, hardcore, alternative rock, and Latin sounds. “B.O.G is an audio snapshot of the times we are currently living in,” the band shares. “From government health failures, international genocide, the rent being too damn high, and the struggles of day to day life, this song takes the blueprint OutKast layed out with Bombs Over Baghdad and brings it into 2026 with the genre bending ethos of OXYMORRONS. The world feels like it’s on fire, and the intensity of the song matches that! With riffs, beats and bars all sounding like literal bombs being dropped.” Oxymorons is currently on tour. Follow them on Instagram for more info.

The Unheard Ones - "Eight Minute Absolution"

The Unheard Ones, the mid-1990s emo band from Baltimore are releasing Stories and Songs, a project that brings together studio and demo recordings. “‘Eight Minute Absolution' isn't eight minutes long; we always kept the songs short, sharp, and to the point," says The Unheard Ones’ vocalist/guitarist Tim Kabara. "It's the other side of the Unheard Ones coin, a refined capturing of the fire and fury of our live shows. Get you a band that can do both. We only played it first in our sets a handful of times, a bad logistical move to shred your guitar that hard first song, but folks remember us starting with it every time. I guess it hit that hard." Stories and Songs is out September 18 and is available for pre-order now at Handstand Records.

Materializer - Unwind

Materializer is the Nashville stoner/doom duo made up of brothers Conner and Chris Poole. The first single off their upcoming debut album is “Unwind,” which the band calls “a unique track that flirts with total dissonance and drone." Their album As The Body Flies is out October 2.

Johnny Mafia - Sing Out Of Tune

For horses, cowboy hats and heavy riffs, see “Sing Out of Tune” by French act Johnny Mafia. Taken from the band’s newly announced fifth album Merci Beaucoup, the song features Simon Péchinot (Pogo Car Crash Control) giving us a guitar solo. Seriously though, listen to him shred.

Liam Creamer - Bucket List

New York’s Liam Creamer, formerly known as Ken Park, wrote “Bucket List” in 20 minutes, ““I wrote this to remind myself of what’s most important: to capture the feeling in the moment.” he says. The song marks the beginning of something new for Creamer. Expect more music on the way.
