Fraternal Twin - "Medicine"
After almost a decade, Fraternal Twin will release their new album Halo Fell Forever. On the latest single “Medicine,” band leader Tom Christie says, “‘Medicine” is a very special song to me and my favorite on the record–it has a lot to do with anxiety, rumination, and deciding to get on antidepressants, hence the title. It’s about me wanting to reconnect with the person I remembered being years ago and lost somewhere along the way during a long bout with clinical depression. I’m happy to say I’ve found him again: “I’ll know it when I see him / My spirit guide from the photographs.” I am forever thankful for this song." The band plays Union Pool on 9/11 and tickets are on sale now.
Diary - Drive It
We are weeks away from Diary’s debut album Spiral Bound. Their latest single “Drive It” starts with an almost apprehensive mood, led by its bass line and synths, before turning into an upbeat psych-pop bop when the beat picks up midsong. Watch this guy as he runs from something through the NYC streets in the Nadia Bedj-directed video.
Railcard - Unstable Neighbour
We’ve all had one of those neighbors that maybe we don’t see eye to eye. UK indie pop act Railcard picks up on that in their latest single “Unstable Neighbour.” The band formed last year and quickly created three EPs, enough for a mail-order CD that quickly sold out. Their upcoming album Two Steps At A Time is out September 18th through Skep Wax and Slumberland Records.
Strange Lot - Eyes For Ya
Austin-based Strange Lot, led by Dominic Mena, has dropped their latest single “Eyes For Ya.” For a moment back in 2022, Mena almost walked away from music altogether. Instead, though, he ended up writing almost 30 demos in about a month. Mena shared his work with Alex Maas (Black Angels), who took on the role of producer. The result is Strange Lot’s debut album, which will be released on 8/14 via Greenway Records.
LUNG - Isolated Gun
New Zealand noise rock act LUNG isn’t one to waste time. “We like to work fast and furious and give it everything in one quick blast,” says frontman Dave White. “That’s how we recorded Fog, and Alan immediately understood that approach. What you see is us — a genuine snapshot of our live performance and a taste of what audiences and promoters can expect.” Watch their Alan Beere (TrustFundKid111) directed music video, which was shot in White’s house in under 30 minutes.
