5 Songs from The Faves

Last post before we jet off into the sunset.. we’ll be back Monday.

This week we’ve got new music from proun, bondo, Doohickey Cubicle, Twin Bloom and Sonic Reducer. We also updated our playlist ‘the faves’ in case you need some more jams for the long weekend!

Bondo - Running Back

LA’s Bondo will release their self-titled album via Solid Bass Records on 7/31. On “Running Back” the five-piece band forgoes a hook, instead opting for screeching guitar strums in place of a chorus. Bondo will be playing some shows on the west coast opening up for UK art rock act WU LYF.

Doohickey Cubicle - It’s The Same

On “It’s The Same” alt-pop project Doohickey Cubicle takes it all in. As band member Francis Hooper explains, “My brain feels like a relentless story-making machine, producing thoughts as consistently as saliva. After my cancer diagnosis 3 years ago, I seem to have become more aware of how easily those stories and projections can pull us away from the present. This song reflects my ongoing attempt to quiet the noise and simply experience the moment that’s in front of me.” Their new album Good At It is out July 31.

Sonic Reducer - I Know (In The End)

Do you hear that? It’s the sound of Australian garage-influenced indie rockers Sonic Reducers dropping their new EP Living Room. Their third EP, it brings together recent singles including “I Know (In The End),” “Song For Steven,” and "Rosebank,” alongside two new tracks.

Twin Bloom - Summer’s Gone

San Francisco’s Twin Bloom claims the end of the season on their latest single “Summer’s Gone.” It captures the final days of Summer when reality starts to seep and the sun is about to be overshadowed by falling leaves and colder days. Their self-titled debut EP will be released via Dandy Boy Records on 7/10.

proun - Maybe Luck

This week Austin indie rockers proun released their debut album Maybe Luck. On the title track, the band’s vocalist Jamie Weed shares, “‘Maybe Luck’ is a homage to the guitar and bass with lots of lines about being queer and trans. This is the first release with the Dante, Jamie, and Alex iteration of the band which has been around for nearly two years. This record is the most collaborative project from the band to date, very much solidifying this lineup and the way we create art together as a band and as friends.” It’s another carefully crafted and emotionally transparent song from the band’s latest work.
