The Cords - Fabulist
Scottish jangle pop duo The Cords have announced their debut album which will be out through Skep Wax and Slumberland Records. The album was recorded over the six days with Jonny Scott (CHVRCHES). The band, which formed in 2023, has shared the stage with bands including The Vaselines, BMX Bandits, The Go! Team and Camera Obscura. You can pre-order the album, out 9/26, here.
Living Hour- Wheel
Winnipeg indie rockers Living Hour will be releasing their fourth album this fall. On the first single “Wheel,” the band tackles betrayal. As vocalist Sam Sarty explains, “The story of ‘Wheel’ begins with buying a car off Facebook Marketplace in BC. Turns out the car was junk, but I had no choice but to drive it home to Winnipeg. It took 3 days. I was driving through the mountains, and the headlights were so dim, and for a stretch there was nowhere to turn off. It felt like a weird, horrific video game–navigating the road and dodging danger and trying not to die. I also felt so deeply betrayed by all the men involved in the whole thing.” Living Hour will be touring the northeast US later this year.
EERA - I’ll Stop When I’m Done
Berlin-based EERA takes inspiration from a Marilyn Monroe quote on her latest single “I’ll Stop When I’m Done.” On the song, she shares, “I wanted to write a song from her perspective–that she wants to be in the spotlight, but that she has to prove herself over and over to everyone around her. I wanted to focus on her vulnerability as well by adding the sentence “I just want to find someone to love” (which is also one of her quotes).I feel that this is all she wanted deep down (beyond success). She wanted someone to love her no matter what. Someone that will always be by her side.” EERA will release the full-length album I’ll stop when I’m done on 9/26 via Test Card Recordings.
