Nadezhda - Parasite
SLC grunge band Nadezhda feel for others stuck in a loop on their latest track “Parasite.” As the band’s vocalist Brighton Ballard explains, “The lyrics for "Parasite" came mostly out of frustration. We've watched multiple close people in our lives continue to be pulled back into bad, detrimental relationships, sometimes even seeming like they're just about to get out of it for good, before the parasite adapts and digs in yet again. You feel angry watching this happen to someone you love, but you know there's very little you can do, until they're hopefully able to strive for the better life they deserve.” Check out the video which combines archival footage of families and parasites!
Calla - Sinnerman
New York/Texas trio Calla has shared their latest song “Sinnerman.” “We started working on this song a few years ago,” frontman Aurelio Valle explains. “Combining several elements of a wide range of incredible folk and gospel versions, the key version being Nina Simone’s rendition. After recording a rough live demo with Wayne, Peter, and myself, we set it aside with no clear vision of how or when we would finish or release it.” This is the latest in a string of singles by the post-rock band.
Softer - Cry, Laugh
LA-based band Softer explores the benefits of psychedelics on “Cry, Laugh.” It’s about the introspective process during a trip and moving between emotional states including depression and joy. The song is the final single from their upcoming album fun ways to cope, which is out this month.
The Trusted- Yellowhammer
The Trusted’s “Yellowhammer” is for those that disconnect from reality, by choosing to dive into the digital void. “Every optimist is a pessimist deep down. A narcissist in pretty clothes,” sings vocalist Tom Cunningham. The English four-piece have built a following since forming during their school years, a result of their hard work from multiple tours, festival sets and radio play.
Glimmer - Dissolve
New York shoegazers Glimmer dropped the first single “Dissolve” off of their upcoming debut album Get Weak. The band recently wrapped up their first EU tour and will be hitting the road again this October. You can preorder the album now, including on vinyl via Abandon Everything Records.
