5 Songs from The Faves
This week we picked songs from queercore group Hunx and His Punx, post-punks TV Face and Native Sun, indie pop band The Cords, and Villagerrr.
You can also catch up on music from bands like Wax Jaw, Phantom Wave, The Anderson Tapes and more on The Faves. Scroll down to listen!
TV Face - White Noise White Lies
British post-punks TV Face are getting ready to release their second full-length Wolf Rents Bark. Their latest single “White Noise White Lies,” which is available on limited 7” lathe cut vinyl, explores creative dissatisfaction, a consequence of finding the right balance between restraint and freedom. Wolf Rents Bark is out 9/5 via Crackedankles Records.
Hunx and His Punx - Wild Boys
And now we get another banger from queercore outfit Hunx and His Punx. Their new song “Wild Boys” is about the leather-wearing guys, the kind of bad boys you find in dark alleys, smoking cigarettes and giving you that look. The LA-based band is gearing up for their US tour, which starts later this month in Seattle. Tickets are on sale now.
Native Sun - Adam
New York’s Native Sun will release their debut album Concrete Language on 9/19. According to vocalist/guitarist Danny Gomez, the new single “Adam” is “about friendship in a city that never slows down. People come and go, but the memories stay. It was inspired by one surreal night riding through New York, chasing something we couldn’t name.” The band will be playing a couple of New York shows in September including 9/7 at TV Eye and 9/25 at a Rough Trade in-store event.
Villagerrr - Ride or Die
Indie rock project Villagerrr has signed to Winspear, who will be re-releasing their record Take Your Heart Out. It’ll be released on vinyl for the first time and get a Deluxe Edition treatment on digital, with five unreleased songs. One of those songs is a duet with Lydia Slocum of feeble little horse called "Ride or Die." The reissue will be out on 10/10 and is available for pre-order now.
The Cords - I’m Not Sad
Scottish indiepop duo The Cords dropped another single, “I’m Not Sad,” from their upcoming self-titled debut. The album was recorded over six days with Jonny Scott (CHVRCHES). The sisters–Eva and Grace–made some noise since forming in ‘23, through the release of a cassette single and a Christmas flexi. The Cords will be released on 9/26 via Slumberland and Skep Wax.
