5 Songs from The Faves

This week we picked songs from Late Again, HYPERDOG, The Macks, The Anti Groupies and Suzie True.

We’re currently reworking our playlist The Faves, so stay tuned for more info!

Late Again - Chick'n Tenders

Do you ever get sentimental over nuggets? Me too. For NY-based Late Again, the solo project of Rafael Melo, it meant writing a song about it. “‘Chick'n Tenders’ is an ironic uplifting love song written to chicken tenders. It's also a song about unrequited human love while being an expat who's feeling like he doesn't belong anywhere on a gloomy Sunday evening. Mostly, it's an ode to fried chicken though.” Melo expands, “I think it's funny how chicken tenders taste exactly the same no matter where you are in the world. And how sometimes that's all you need to feel at home for a second when nothing else can fill that void.” Late Again’s new EP Clearly It’s All Staged is out now.

The Macks - Dually of Man / The Modern Grape

Portland post-punks The Macks have released two new songs! Calling it “a collection of miscellaneous rock that could only have been crafted by this dedicated and bull-headedly sincere troupe of desperate artists,” the double single is accompanied by a music video. The Vultures & Dogs produced visual combines the two songs into one storyline. Watch it now!

The Anti Groupies - Not My Problem

Long Beach four-piece The Anti Groupies fight for freedom on “Not My Problem.” The song is about setting boundaries in relationships to avoid uncomfortable and toxic relationships. The band is Cassidy Fleeman (singer), Isabella Broersma (guitarist), Sydney Moore (bassist), and Kyla Foster (drummer).

Suzie True - Get Prettier Overnight!!!

LA pop-punks Suzie True have announced their new album How I learned To Love What’s Gone. Out on 10/17 via Get Better Records, the album sees the trio bringing together their 90’s alt-rock influences, while exploring topics such as breakups, recovery and reflection. This week, the band shared the single and video "Get Prettier Overnight!!!" which you can watch now. Suzie True will tour across the US this fall.

HYPERDOG - Smartphone

Our relationship status with our phone: It’s complicated. Austrian post-punks HYPERDOG explore the ups-and-downs on their new song “Smartphone.” This is the band’s first single since their 2024 EP Tales From The Mountain. Their sound is a mix of 80s hardcore and new wave.
