Empty Nesters, the project driven by Montreal native and Chinese/Vietnamese-Canadian Eric Liao has announced a new EP. The lead single “Shangri-Nah” is the two-piece band–Liao and drummer Matthew Galamaga–shifting from shoegaze to hardcore punk. The song sees Liao looking to make sense of a changing world. QWAM - Friend$$

Brooklyn punk band QWAM has shared the first single from their upcoming album Girls Aren’t Afraid of Blood. On “Friend$$,” band member Felicia Lobo says, “It’s really about watching my friends find success and feeling left behind. It’s made me wonder if it’s worth it to keep making music and theatre and all the things I love. But the truth is, I can’t stop making things because it’s in my blood. I just have to stay grateful for my internal want to make things and keep following it.” The album is out August 1st and is currently up for pre-order.

Polevaulter - robertson ii

Who do you do it for? On their new single “robertson II” Polevaulter exclaims that it better be for the enterprise, but don’t expect to be compensated. “Work rate / stamina / does not guarantee a place in this enterprise,” we’re told. The two-piece noise punk project has some UK dates lined up this month. Check out their Instagram for dates and ticket info.

Warper - Pull

On October 3rd, Colorado shoegazers Warper are set to release their new album Something, Sometime on Candlepin Records. The duo’s debut was produced, mixed, and mastered by Corey Coffman (Ponyboy, They Are Gutting a Body of Water, Gleemer). The first single “Pull” is guitarist/vocalist Jack McManaman looking for solace. You can pre-order the album now from their Bandcamp.

Eden J Howells - living lonely

Alternative folk artist Eden J Howells has released their gritty single “living lonely.” It’s a tale of moving back to your hometown only to feel more isolated. “I felt so much anger around my situation,” Eden shares. “I was stuck back in my hometown, and I didn’t know anyone. It felt like no one knew I was there, like I’d become invisible. I was living in this crappy little van that kept breaking down. I couldn’t afford rent (hence the van). I felt completely lost, like I was floating through space and I couldn’t get back, no matter how hard I tried.” The song is off the London-based artist’s upcoming EP, scheduled for release in September.
