Eyecolour - "Clean"
Australia’s Eyecolour describe themselves as VHS found in a second hand shop, the grit of a Handycam home movie with the integrated musical ideas of the 80s. Their latest single “Clean” is a synth-driven dark pop gem, conjuring a dream-like state where you’ll find yourself having a hard time making out what is and isn’t there. Their album Perfume will come later.
Dalmatia - Dive In
Have you ever desired someone so much it becomes almost inescapable? That’s the theme on Dalmatia’s “Dive In,” that moment where you look around and find yourself wanting to be them. Next year, the San Francisco foggaze band releases their debut album Adagio.
Azure Rose - Villains
Toronto-based act Azure Rose will release their album Blue Drops on 10/3. “Villains” taps into dream pop tones, though the band touches on indie rock, shoegaze and other sounds. Just as the name suggests, a mix of blue and the vanishing ink Opera Rose, their music is lush but transient. The album will get a vinyl release on two variants, a black and a white/blue splatter edition.
Edens - Empty Details
Edens is very much a Chicago band. "The more I think about this record, I think it's really cool that it was sort of born and raised completely in Chicago," says Edens’ singer/guitarist Jonathan Burden. "It was written, recorded, mixed, mastered and pressed here. The cover art is by a local artist. The design and layout was done here by a former bandmate and me. Lyrically it may be a bit more abstract, but I'm definitely thinking about my life here." Their album Static Fiction is out 10/23 via Dedd Foxx.
Gently Tender - Don’t Sleep
A city can often change your entire life. On their new single “Don’t Sleep” Gently Tender offers their perspective on London. Vocalist Sam Fryer shares, “‘I’m wrestling between love and hate for the city. When I scream ‘I love this place’ it’s almost through gritted teeth. Over the years I have struggled with London - but when I reflect upon it - I have to pay my respects to how it’s shaped my life artistically.” The South London band will release their next album This Was Once Fields on October 16 via TODO Records.
