5 Songs from The Faves

This week we’ve got music from LA’s Los Frankies, philly punk act Commitment, French slacker rock band Swirls, punk blues duo Super Creeps, and electronic project Vitesse X.

We also updated our playlist with new music from Spirit Hotel, Melting Palms, doubleshot, Wholes and more.

Los Frankies - I’m On Drugs

When we get hungry, we eat. That’s the premise of Los Frankies debut single “I’m On Drugs.” It’s a sweat-filled rock n’ roll club anthem with heavy guitar riffs and a chorus sweet enough to give you cavities. The song is off the LA band’s upcoming album D.E.D City, which will be out March 6. Calling it now: Los Frankies have unlocked a new era.

Commitment - Hellraiser

It’s been a busy month for Philly punk act Commitment. Last week the band — which features members of Soul Glo, Eye Flys and Le Siren — announced they had signed to Get Better Records and shared their new single “Hellraiser.” Commitment’s also been supporting Chicago punks Stress Positions on tour. Swirls - Powerstation

You ever get so burnt out, but somehow you keep going? French slacker punk band Swirls explores that feeling on their new single. "’Powerstation’ is an anthem for anyone running on fumes but refusing to shut down,” says the band. “Energy from where there’s none left. A last-push song about scraping the bottom of the tank to give whatever’s still in there. It’s fast, fragile, and hits exactly where it should. Because it’s often when it’s almost too late that we make our best decisions." The song is off Swirls’ upcoming sophomore album, to be released next year.

Super Creeps - A Bug’s Life

SF Bay area duo Super Creeps is all hooks and gritty guitars on their latest release The Black Friday. “This EP wasn’t overthought,” the band shares. “We don’t have a dramatic backstory or some cohesive overarching theme. It’s just us and the music. And we’ve got a lot more coming.” We agree. Sometimes it’s better to let the music speak for itself. And that’s what The Black Friday does well.

Vitesse X - Memori

On “Memori” New York electronic musicmaker Vitesse X reaches for the beyond. "I spent the past year listening to near-death experience stories, which renewed my belief in an afterlife,” she says. “When David Lynch passed, I joined a group meditation in his honor and felt the veil between worlds thinning. What once terrified me shifted into awe. These lyrics grew from that moment and from Lynch’s ideas about transcendence and the ocean of consciousness.” More music from Vitesse X is coming soon.
