PANIK FLOWER - rearview
Brooklyn-based band PANIK FLOWER has released their latest EP rearview. “This EP felt like a lot of us finding ourselves as a band — our sound and how we perform,” says PANIK FLOWER’s bassist Max Baird. “Sage’s spoken word has become such an important part of that and we really wanted to explore it in this project. It contributes a lot to the push-pull dynamic of our music, often adding another rhythmic element on top of an already lush, sonic landscape. Many of the bones of these tracks were brought to us by our drummer Marco, who was our missing piece up until early last year.” Watch the video for the title track above.
Sextile - Women Respond To Bass
Synth punk band Sextile has released their full-length yes, please. The last single is a four-on-the-floor, shake-your-a$$ anthem. “‘Women Respond To Bass' was written as a sassy strutter for the girls, gays and theys,” says Melissa Scaduto. “We originally wanted to do this video as a Boiler Room style video, but because of time we were unable. While we were in Tokyo, our new friends & promoters we were working with offered to make a video and they made it happen the next day. We shot it at 4am after we played a show & then regrouped for another night to shoot. Tokyo being the main character, we are now in love with Japan.” The band has announced an upcoming US tour this fall.
Anti-Corn League - it Won’t Stop
Pittsburgh trio Anti-Corn League tackles the matters of the mind on their new song “It Won’t Stop.” The band shares, “The release is inspired by the current chaos our society is experiencing and how it affects our minds.” To add echo to the guitar’s sound, it was recorded in their basement shower. Anti-Corn League’s next Pittsburgh show is at The Haven on May 24th.
95 Bulls - Gin Shot
Brooklyn/Queens-based punk band 95 Bulls drops their new album Canadian Nightclub on June 20. “Gin Shot,” the first single, “is an unwavering testament to the off-kilter, magnetic, and chaotic world that is Canadian Nightclub.” This is 95 Bulls’ first release since recent line-up changes. You can pre-order the album on clear vinyl on their Bandcamp.
Pry - Greener
NYC duo Pry has dropped another single off of their upcoming debut album Wrapped in Plastic. According to the band, “Greener” was one of the first songs the band worked on. “It has gone through a lot of phases and it is very special to us because it represents a lot about the two of us stylistically, instrumentally and lyrically,” Pry explains. “We wanted to create an atmosphere that felt dynamic but allowed Amara’s introspective conversation with self to remain center-stage.” Wrapped in Plastic is out 5/9.
